Summer Vacation 2019: Adventures in Cabo (June 2 – 6)

What a wonderful adventure to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! First time visiting, but it will not be the last time. We caught a great deal on Spirit Airlines when we made the flight arrangements in March. This destination was always on our list, but the timing and the cost did not align in previous years. For 2019, the timing and cost were perfect!:) Once flight arrangements were confirmed, we picked our hotel which was the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Gold Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. The property was immaculate and our room was beautiful.

Activities & Excursions : What did we do?

  1. Beach – Beautiful. Experiencing the Ocean view from our hotel room was simply not enough. This hotel is located near a swimmable beach area which allowed us to experience the beach within the Los Cabos area. The Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) is the body of water that comprises the beach. The water was very choppy and rough (so swim at your own risk) but it did provide some relief from the warm Mexican heat.IMG_0099
  2. Los Cabos Combo Tour with Free Photos: Boat Ride, City Sightseeing and Shopping (Trip Advisor) – By far, one of the best excursions that we have ever done. This  was a glass-bottom boat cruise to El Arco (one of the most famous sites in Cabo) and while on the way we saw tropical fish and sea lions. Near the El Arco we saw the meeting of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean, Lovers Beach and Divorce Beach which were on opposite sides! The tour on land included: shopping, glass blowing, lunch and tequila tasting at Don Malaquias. We also visited a former mission in San Jose Del Cabo.  This tour had it all, by sea and by land along with immaculate scenery and photos. The tour guide  was very engaging as well as very knowledgeable. It was a full day worth of fun!

3. Wild Canyon Adventure: Camel Expedition – Located in the Baja desert in Los Cabos, this adventure park was totally awesome! We participated in the Camel Riding Expedition which was wonderful. Our tour guide and his excellent team did a wonderful job setting our group at ease as none of us had ever rode on the back of  a camel before, so we had some jitters. The youngest of our group was 10 years old all the way up to late 50s to early 60s. We not only rode the camels but also fed  a camel with a carrot while holding the carrot in our mouth! Our tour guide also provided knowledge on the origins and habitat of camels.

4.  Wild Canyon Adventure: Los Cabos Canyon Bridge – Wild Canyon boasts the longest wooden pedestrian and ATV/UTV hanging bridge in the world (measuring 1,082.67 feet long, 6.56 feet wide and 164.04 feet above the ground. It is truly a wonder to behold as it stretches the full length of the canyon. It was almost impossible not to look down! My wife walked the entire length bridge and walked back (just for fun-lol).
